Faulkner came within minutes of stopping its current skid before succumbing to Martin Methodist 65-61 Saturday afternoon. The Eagles led by eight with 15:49 to play in a game that saw eight ties and eight lead changes.

Martin managed to connect on 57 percent of its shots in the second half to run its field goal percentage for the game up to 45.1 percent. By comparison, the Eagles shot a more modest 37 percent while also turning the ball over 20 times in the loss. Faulkner largely controlled the boards, winning the rebounding battle 43-34.

Martin's Javonte Cooper led all scorers with 21 points while Malcanee Mason contributed 13 and Dwayne Ward had 11.

Rene Scott (JR/Mobile, Ala.) had 13 points while Milan Skundric (JR/Negotin, Serbia) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Adnan Halilovic (SR/Mali Zvornik, Serbia) had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Faulkner (9-5, 2-4 SSAC) will look to stop its losing streak at five Thursday when it hosts No. 8 Stillman.
