All five starters score in double figures as Eagles win fourth straight

Box Score

All five starters scored in double figures led by a career high from Adnan Halilovic (SR/Mali Zvornik, Serbia) as Faulkner dropped Middle Georgia State 76-71 Monday night. The victory marked the fourth straight for the Eagles while moving the squad to 17-9 on the season and 10-8 in SSAC play.

"The zone saved us again. We were in zone the last six or seven minutes of the game and it won the game for us kind of like in the Loyola game," Faulkner Head Coach Scott Sanderson said.

Halilovic poured in 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds while handing out three assists. The Serbian center shot only nine times from the floor, making seven of them.

"Adnan came up big for us and we needed all of them. Plus, he was 5 for 6 from the free throw line and he has really struggled at the free throw line this year, so that was good," Sanderson said.

Efficiency rather than volume told the tale for Sanderson's team Monday. Middle Georgia State outrebounded Faulkner 37-27 including an eye-popping 15 offensive rebounds. The Knights also hoisted up 68 shots in the game as compared to only 53 by the visiting Eagles. Still, Faulkner managed notable advantages in shooting percentage in every category.

The Eagles hit 49.1 percent of their shots from the floor, 36.8 percent of their threes and 85 percent at the free throw line. Middle Georgia countered with 38.2/25/70.6 in those categories. Faulkner also tallied 21 assists on 26 made baskets.

"We shot it really well in every area. We had 21 assists on 26 baskets which is unreal and we only turned the ball over seven times," Sanderson said. "If you do those kind of things, you've got a chance to win."

Rene Scott (JR/Mobile, Ala.) added 18 points for the Eagles while C.J. Jones (JR/Port Richey, Fla.) scored 17. Milan Skundric (JR/Negotin, Serbia) notched 11 and Sean Edwards (SR/Madison, Ala.) scored 10. Darrell White paced Middle Georgia State with 21 points.

Faulkner (17-9, 10-8 SSAC) travels to Tuscaloosa Thursday night to take on Stillman.

"We'll take (Tuesday) off. We've played three games in five days," Sanderson said. "We'll have one day of preparation for Stillman Wednesday. They've just got to show me their understanding and we'll do some film work and get ready for Stillman on Thursday."
