Faulkner falls at Mobile

Box Score

The Lady Eagles traded runs with Mobile in the first quarter before Mobile pulled ahead for good late in the opening frame en route to a 71-55 Mobile victory at Spring Hill College Saturday afternoon. Faulkner (12-15, 5-13 SSAC) has officially clinched a spot in the SSAC Women's Basketball Championships despite dropping six consecutive contests.

A nine point burst from Kendra Langham fueled a 15-2 run in the first 5:23 from the Rams before Laura Jones (FR/Bonifay, Fla.) equalled the individual output in a 14-0 Lady Eagle run in just 2:50. Jones would end the night with a career high 16 points and was the only player in double figures for Faulkner while coming off the bench. "I am really pleased with Laura's consistent scoring right now," head coach Reed Sutton said. "It is great to see how far she has come this season!"

Angela Grant (FR/Hoover, Ala.) helped fuel the bench which outscored the starters for the Lady Eagles with six points and eight boards in 18 minutes.

The Lady Eagles turned the ball over 20 times while dishing just seven assists.

"We just got beat physically today," Sutton said. "Mobile played tougher. Our ladies are still playing hard despite our recent troubles, but we are searching for gritty, relentless competitors in our locker room right now that can protect the ball on offense and do the dirty jobs on defense. Those are the players we need to play big minutes when we suit up next Thursday against Florida College." That contest will take place at 5:30 at Tine Davis Gymnasium.
