Wolf Pack overwhelms Lady Eagles on Play for Kay Night

Box Score

Loyola (19-5, 13-2 SSAC) used 14 offensive rebounds and seven steals to outpace Faulkner (12-11, 5-9 SSAC) 85-66 Thursday night at Tine Davis Gymnasium. In an unusual scenario, the Lady Eagles neither led nor tied at any point in the game after Paige Franckiewicz sank two technical foul free throws to make the score 2-0 before the opening tip due to an equipment malfunction.

A 9-3 Faulkner run midway through the first quarter brought the Loyola lead down to one, but the Wolf Pack responded with an 8-2 run to close out the quarter and the Lady Eagles never came within one possession again.

Ashlyn Adkins (SO/Locust Fork, Ala.) hit her 100th career three pointer tonight on her way to 16 points to lead the team. Micala Fisanick (FR/Troy, Ala.) added 15 while Laura Jones (FR/Bonifay, Fla.) had a career high 10 off the bench. Olivia Colson (FR/Thompson's Station, Tenn.) led Faulkner with seven rebounds. Kaila Anthony paced the Wolf Pack with 24 points and five steals.

Following the game, the Lady Eagles honored 28 breast cancer survivors as part of Play for Kay Night. Faulkner has been one of the leading schools in the NAIA in raising funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, whose mission is to extend and to extend and improve the lives of all women battling cancer by raising money for research and assisting the underserved.

The Lady Eagles will host William Carey Saturday at 1 p.m. in another SSAC contest.
