Box Score Faulkner notched its third straight conference win Saturday when it knocked off William Carey, the nation's No. 13 team, 91-82. Faulkner trailed 48-47 with 12:55 to play when Nate Bradley (JR/Concord, N.Y.) made a shot that put the Eagles on top. Faulkner scarcely ever looked back.
"I thought we did some good things, offensively and defensively. When you shoot 56 percent, you're going to win a lot of games. We shot 66 percent from the three-point line," Faulkner Head Coach Scott Sanderson said.
The Eagles opened the lead up to as many 15 before the under-six media timeout when C.J. Jones (JR/Port Richey, Fla.) made a free throw with 6:20 to play.
The nine-point win came as a stark contrast to the 30-turnover performance Faulkner put together in the loss at William Carey Dec. 16, 2018.
"They do a lot of switching," Sanderson said. "We threw the ball inside more. A lot of times when they switched, there was a mismatch there. We had a few little things we did differently offensively to get guys different shots from different sides of the floor."
Milan Skudric paced Faulkner with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Rene Scott (JR/Mobile, Ala.) dropped 22 points, becoming the 27th player in Faulkner history to reach the 1,000-point club. Jones added 15 in the win while Garrett Sanderson (SO/Montgomery, Ala.) had 10.
Faulkner (16-9, 9-8 SSAC) hits the road Monday to take on Middle Georgia State before traveling to Stillman and Mobile later in the week.
