Life topples Faulkner in final pre-conference tune up

Box Score

The offense sputtered in a four set loss to Life (Ga.) Tuesday night in Marietta for the Lady Eagles. Faulkner found just 29 kills on 164 attempts while committing the same number of errors.

Life led the entire first set, but Faulkner kept it close until a seven point run pushed the Running Eagles out of reach. A similar song was sung in the second set, except the Lady Eagles had tied the set at 18 before another seven point streak saw Life take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Seven became the number of the night in the third set as number seven, Alyssa Stagner (SO/Sneads, Fla.) served five of the teams seven aces in the set. Runs of five and four points in the final half of the set from Tori Bartels's squad comfortably extended the match to a fourth set.

Faulkner held a 13-11 lead in the fourth before Life instigated a 10-2 run to halt the efforts to send the match to five.

Kortney Barnes (JR/Mobile, Ala.) led the Lady Eagles with seven kills. Alyssa Stagner had a double-double with 23 assists and 12 digs. Julianne Wilkes (SR/Deatsville, Ala.) paced the floor with 23 digs.

The Lady Eagles drop to 4-5 and will host Martin Methodist Saturday at 2 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two sides since last season's SSAC title match.
