Lady Eagles bounce back with sweep of William Carey

Box Score

Alysa Vinson (SO/Pike Road, Ala.) and Alyssa Stagner (SO/Sneads, Fla.)'s one-two punch led the way as Faulkner knocked down William Carey 32-30, 25-16, 25-18 Friday evening in Hattiesburg, Miss.

It took 62 rallies and 24 ties to determine who would start the match on the front foot. The Lady Eagles took a 20-13 lead before the Lady Crusaders would storm back in front of their home crowd at the Ben Waddle Complex and force extra points. Tied at 30, Mallory Black (SO/Murfreesboro, Tenn.) proved to be the difference killing the next two points to claim the first set.

A William Carey service error opened the second set and gave the Lady Eagles a lead they would hold onto for the rest of the set. The offense clicked its strongest statistically in that frame with a .289 hitting percentage.

Faulkner closed the door with a dominant third set going on a 13-6 run featuring eight kills and an ace to finish the match.

Vinson recorded a career high 17 kills while contributing 13 digs. Stagner also picked up a double-double with 31 assists and 11 digs. Julianne Wilkes (SR/Deatsville, Ala.) paced the floor with 18 digs. Ashley Ingwersen (SR/Huntsville, Ala.) matched Vinson's defensive numbers in the three set victory.

The Lady Eagles welcome Blue Mountain Friday night at 7 p.m. for the first ever volleyball meeting between the two schools.
