Box Score TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – Faulkner navigated Florida College's hot start before surging from behind Saturday to down the Falcons 90-76 for its fifth straight win.
After Milz Tatum hit a shot in the paint with 4:42 left in the opening half, Florida College's lead grew to 38-28, matching its largest point of the day. Then Faulkner went to work. The Eagles began matching stops and shots enough to mount a 12-0 run over the next four minutes and take a 40-38 lead on a C.J. Williamson (SO/Guntersville, Ala.) shot with 47 seconds left until half. Matt Simpson added a pair of free throws in the waning seconds of the opening period to send the game to the locker room knotted at 40.
Garrett Sanderson (JR/Montgomery, Ala.) knocked down a shot 56 seconds into the second half to put Faulkner up 42-40. The Eagles never trailed again. Faulkner went on to run that lead to eight points by the 14:24 mark. Simpson helped the Falcons cut the deficit to two with 8:59 left in the game before Faulkner put together a 10-2 run over the next three minutes to put the game away.
The Eagles won the rebounding battle 48-42 while forcing 16 turnovers. Faulkner also executed a clean offensive game, assisting on 21 of 37 made baskets while committing only seven turnovers on the day.
The Eagles found most of their success at the rim on a day in which they connected on only three shots from deep. Faulkner posted 60 points in the paint while limiting Florida College to just 30 such points.
C.J. Williamson paced Faulkner with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Milan Skundric (SR/Negotin, Serbia) had 22 points and eight rebounds. Nate Bradley (SR/Concord, N.Y.) finished with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. C.J. Jones (SR/Port Richey, Fla.) added 12 points for the Eagles.
Simpson topped the Falcons with 21 points. Jalon Perry added 17 while Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic had 12 and Tatum notched 11.
Faulkner (14-3, 5-1 SSAC) returns to action Jan. 11 when it travels to Tuscaloosa to take on Stillman College in a game that tips at 2 p.m.
