Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – Faulkner failed to control the boards and No. 16 Loyola could scarcely miss from deep as the Wolfpack beat the visiting Lady Eagles 88-58 Thursday night. An Ashlyn Adkins (JR/Locust Fork, Ala.) three with 7:26 remaining in the first quarter gave Faulkner a lead that lasted only 16 seconds before Kaila Anthony answered in kind. The Lady Eagles never regained the advantage as the Anthony triple sparked a 22-7 run to end the frame.
Loyola stretched the lead to 46-26 by halftime and ran it to as many as 33 in the fourth quarter. The Wolfpack dominated the rebounding battle 48-25 and controlled the bench points category 38-8, leaving both sets of starters at an even 50-50 in scoring.
Loyola shot a scintillating 48.3 percent from beyond the arc with 14 made threes while limiting Faulkner to just 14.3 percent on three makes.
Paige Franckiewicz topped all scorers with 17 while Kennedy Hansberry had 15 for Loyola and Shawna Torregano contributed 11.
Channing Gafford (JR/Athens, Ala.) and Olivia Colson (SO/Thompson's Station, Tenn.) had 16 apiece for Faulkner while Adkins finished with 14.
Faulkner (16-12, 6-8 SSAC) returns to action Saturday at noon when it plays at William Carey.
