Eagles bury Barons for 11th straight win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner made its first seven shots of the game to rush out to a 16-8 lead and never looked back en route to a 104-58 victory over Brewton-Parker Thursday night.

The Eagles stretched the lead to 30-10 before the first media timeout of the opening half. Things got no better for the visiting Barons thereafter as Faulkner found itself with a 47-15 lead at the under-six media stoppage. The Eagles ran the lead to as many as 35 before taking a 59-27 advantage into the locker room at the break.

The lead touched 40 on five separate occasions in the second half before Faulkner pulled most of its starters. The Eagles finished the game with a point guard and four post players on the floor while finishing the game on a 10-0 run to win by 46.

Faulkner shot 56.9 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from three. The Eagles held BPC to 31.7 percent from the floor and 15 percent from beyond the arc.

C.J. Jones (SR/Port Richey, Fla.) finished with a game high 22 points to go along with seven rebounds. Garrett Sanderson (JR/Montgomery, Ala.) scored18 points. Jamon Moore (SR/Albany, Ga.) had 11 points while Nate Bradley (SR/Concord, N.Y.) and Milan Skundric (SR/Negotin, Serbia) notched 10 apiece.

Leondre Christie topped Brewton with 13 points while Jack Gray had 12.

The win was the 11th consecutive victory and 15th in the last 16 game for Faulkner (20-3, 11-1 SSAC), which returns to action Saturday when it hosts Florida College at 2 p.m.
