MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For the third straight game, the Faulkner Eagles won by more than 30 points at Tine Davis Gymnasium, falling just three points shy of their third 100-point game in a row. Faulkner never trailed in a 97-64 beatdown of Florida College Saturday. The Eagles' first five baskets were on 3-pointers made by Milan Skundric (SR/Negotin, Serbia), C.J. Jones (SR/Port Richey, Fla.), Garrett Sanderson (JR/Montgomery, Ala.), C.J. Williamson (SO/Guntersville, Ala.) and Nate Bradley (SR/Concord, N.Y.). The run gave them a 15-9 lead with 14:49 left until halftime. The home team went into the locker room with a 47-28 advantage and never looked back.
Faulkner made 39 of its 77 field goal attempts, which translated to an amazing 50.6 percent from the floor. Faulkner was also successful on 12 of its 24 attempts from deep. However, the Falcons made only 30.3 percent of their field goals and 28.1 percent of their 3-pointers. The Eagles scored 11 points off of turnovers, 16 second chance points and 53 points from its bench. The visitors only scored four, eight and 23 points in these categories, respectively. Faulkner also outrebounded Florida College by a margin of 55-32.
Williamson was Faulkner's leading scorer, even though he did not start in the game and only played 16 minutes. He racked up 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Trace Hill (SO/Hartselle, Ala.) registered a career high 15 points, eight of them during one impressive stretch in the second half in which he made three consecutive field goals, along with 10 boards and two assists in the first double-double of his collegiate career. Jones added 10 points and five boards while Sanderson had four rebounds and two assists to go with his eight points. Bradley chipped in four points, three boards and three assists. Jamon Moore (SR/Albany, Ga.) tallied 10 points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Ethan Smith had 18 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists for the visitors. Milz Tatum was responsible for 11 points, three boards and two assists. Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic scored eight points, eight rebounds and two assists. Jalon Perry added 10 points, four boards, two steals and two assists.
Currently ranked No. 10 in the nation, the Eagles return home to face Middle Georgia State Feb. 15. Faulkner is on a 12-game winning streak, with a 21-3 overall record.
