Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner pushed its program record win streak to 18 games Thursday night when it dropped Martin Methodist 86-66 in the quarterfinals of the SSAC tournament.. the Eagles ran out to a 15-2 lead in the first 4:10 of the game and never relinquished it.
The Red Hawks got to within two points with 5:45 remaining in the opening half before a 15-5 run opened it back up to a 12-point Eagle advantage.
Faulkner ballooned its nine-point halftime lead all the way to 20 with a 14-2 run to start the second half that put the game away. A 9-0 run midway through the half stretched the lead to 24 and allowed the Eagles to pull many of its regulars from the game.
Faulkner won the rebounding battle 49-31 and outpaced Martin 20-11 in second chance points. The Eagles shot 46.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from three in the effort while also knocking down 87.5 percent of their free throws.
C.J. Jones (SR/Port Richey, Fla.) topped the Eagles with 21 points. Nate Bradley (SR/Concord, N.Y.) added 18 while Milan Skundric (SR/Negotin, Serbia) had 12 points and 11 assists. Garrett Sanderson (JR/Montgomery, Ala.) finished with 10 points for Faulkner.
Faulkner (27-3) faces Loyola in the semifinals of the SSSAC tournament Friday at 7 p.m. at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
