GWINNETT, Ga. - It took 109:59 to separate Faulkner (1-4-1) and Georgia Gwinnett (3-0) Thursday night, but a buzzer beating goal from Karim Tmimi gave the hosts a dramatic win.
The Eagles were whistled for offside with 20 seconds to play before the second meeting between the two sides ended the same way the first did, but the Grizzlies pushed for and found the winner as time expired.
Tmimi opened the scoring in the 69th minute off a corner kick delivered by Alfredo Rivera.
Hiago Gaspar answered right back and opened his Faulkner account with a 73rd minute equalizer buried into the top right corner.
Faulkner placed two more shots on target than the non-conference foe with six efforts requiring defensive intervention.
Gaspar led the team with three on target attempts in four shots including his goal.
Sam Kelly and
Antoine Marques each found the target every time on their combined three shots.
Faulkner travels to Dalton State for an SSAC matchup Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
