MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner made the most of its final midweek and non-conference game of the season Tuesday in a 15-0 romp over Point University. The Eagles scored in five of its six turns at-bat, posting a seven spot in the third inning to blow the game open.
Alex Arauz doubled home
Shawn Ross with two out in the first to open the scoring. The game stayed 1-0 until the first pitch of the bottom of the third when
Jonathan Villa ripped a homer to left-center.
Tommy Reyes-Cruz later singled in Ross and
Isaac Phillips before
Justin Lara's hit plated
John Michael Mathews. Villa finished what he started with his second at-bat of the third inning when he ripped a double off the top of the fence to drive in three runs and leave the Eagles up 8-0.
Faulkner took advantage of four Point errors in the fourth innings as Phillips' grounder drove in Ross. Another error allowed Phillips to score and move the lead to 10-0. Mathews later scored on Lara's grounder before Reyes-Cruz made his way home on an error to make it 12-0.
Justice Lucas singled in Arauz in the fifth to make it 13-0 before the Eagles capped the scoring in the sixth as
Tyler Paulsen's double drove in
Stafford Quinnelly and Kelton Pilkinton.
Ford Hilyer (3-0) worked four innings of shutout relief to get the win.
Aaron Hammer struck out three over his two perfect innings of work.
