MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner overcame a pair of early deficits Tuesday to sweep a doubleheader from Columbia International.

After giving up a run in the top of the first inning in game one, Faulkner battled back to tie it in the bottom of the third on a solo homer from
Shawn Ross. The Eagles took the lead for good in the home half of the fourth as
Justice Lucas doubled in
Tommy Reyes-Cruz.
Sam Anthony later doubled in Lucas for the 3-1 advantage.
Faulkner hung four runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away.
Isaiah Brooks scored on an error.
Isaac Phillips singled in
Alex Arauz to push the lead to 5-1 before
John Michael Mathews stroked a two-run shot to left, leaving Faulkner up 7-1.
Bo Seccombe wrapped the Faulkner scoring in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer to left.
Tyberius Correa (2-0) worked five and a third innings while striking out six, allowing seven hits and two earned runs for the win.
Tyler Paulsen fanned four batters over an inning and two thirds in relief.

Columbia International scored in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead in game two before Faulkner answered in the home half of the frame. Phillips tripled home Paulsen and Anthony to put Faulkner up 2-1. Reyes-Cruz scored on a balk in the fourth to move the lead to 3-1. The Eagles then rallied for four runs in the fifth.
Jonathan Villa singled in Arauz and Mathews before Reyes-Cruz drove in
Justin Lara. Lucas later singled to advance Reyes-Cruz to third before the utility infielder scored on an error.
Columbia International put four runs up in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-5. Arauz got two of those back for his team when he singled home Anthony and Philips in the bottom of the frame.
Stafford Quinnelly (2-0) struck out three batters over four innings while allowing one hit and one unearned run in the game.
Ford Hilyer struck out two over an inning and a third for the save.
Faulkner (20-4) plays again Friday when it opens an SSAC series against Stillman.
