MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner notched a pair of six-run conference wins Saturday as it swept a doubleheader from Stillman.
FAULKNER 10, STILLMAN 4
The Lady Eagles wasted little time getting the bats going as
Shelbie Burbage hit a leadoff single and scored on a
Taylor Eddy double for the 1-0 lead.
Ashton Fielding singled in Eddy before
Tara Ammons' RBI grounder pushed home
Kendall Bennett. The 3-0 lead ballooned in the third as Faulkner rallied for a six spot to all but put the game away.
Burbage singled in Adams and
Madison McKee for the 5-0 lead. Bennett doubled to plate
Brianna Cagle and Burbage before Eddy scored on a wild throw.
After surrendering three runs in the fourth and one in the sixth, Faulkner tacked on one more in the home half of the sixth as Burbage singled to drive in
Hannah Crabtree.
Julianna Thames (4-2) got the win, struck out four batters over three and two-thirds while scattering six hits and a walk.
FAULKNER 6, STILLMAN 0
Faulkner took longer to get the offense going in game two as it waited until there was one out in the home half of the fifth to get on the board for the first time. Burbage started the rally with a double before scoring on a Fielding grounder. Ammons grounded out to score Eddy and make it 2-0 in favor of Faulkner.
Caity Jo Lee singled in Fielding before scoring on an
Erika Mitchell base hit, leaving Faulkner up 4-0.
Burbage walked with one out in the sixth and scored on Eddy's single to make it 5-0. Bennett singled in Eddy to cap the scoring.
Jeri Beasley (5-2) struck out five over the seven-inning complete game shutout effort that also saw her scatter three hits and two walks.
Faulkner (19-9, 9-3 SSAC) returns to action Friday when it travels to face conference foe Blue Mountain.
