TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Faulkner never had the lead and trailed by as many as 27 points Monday night in an 81-62 SSAC road loss at Stillman. The torrid Tigers opened up a lead of 18 in the first half before Faulkner got to work whittling the deficit to a manageable seven points on
Angela Grant's bucket to open the third quarter. The Eagles never got closer.
Stillman knocked down 12 threes on the night, making 50 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc to pull away from Faulkner.
"I have to give Stillman all the credit. They shot the cover off the ball, defended well, and smelled blood in the water," Faulkner head coach
Reed Sutton said. "Every night is a battle and they beat us soundly. I am confident we will bounce back and be better for it."
Stillman shot 47.5 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three while holding Faulkner to 42 percent from the floor and 31.8 percent from beyond the arc. Stillman also forced 15 Lady Eagle turnovers.
Grant paced Faulkner with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Morgan Holland finished with 11 points while
Ashlyn Adkins had 10.
Faulkner (9-10, 2-5 SSAC) returns to action Thursday when it travels to Blue Mountain.
