Faulkner tames Tigers in Mid-South road rout

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Faulkner kicked its offense into high gear early in the second quarter Saturday as it flew past Campbellsville for a 49-17 victory.
After Ben Anderson hit Jaiveyon Tucker for a 14-yard touchdown pass to cap an 80-play drive on the Eagles' first possession of the game, the Tigers accounted for the next 14 points in the contest. Tre' Bass scored on an 18-yard run at the 3:11 mark of the first quarter and Joshua Meglis connected with Luke Sheperson on an 8-yard strike with 12:18 left until half to put Campbellsville up 14-7.

The Eagles answered right back, covering 77 yards in only four plays, punctuating the drive with a 2-yard scoring run from Styles Hughes to pull the game to 14-14. From there, Ben Anderson established Tucker as his go-to target, finding the wideout for scoring passes of 41 and 10 yards before halftime to put the Eagles up 28-14. Faulkner appeared poised to add another score before the break when a fumble halted the drive at midfield. Campbellsville worked quickly to set up Devin Neally's 50-yard field goal attempt, leaving the Eagles up 28-17.

Faulkner put the game away in the third quarter with a trio of touchdown runs from Hughes, who punched the ball in from inside of two yards on all three occasions. He finished the day with 11 carries for 72 yards and four touchdowns, leaving him one end zone visit shy of Brandon Cheatham's 2011 program record. As a team, Faulkner ran the ball 46 times for 267 yards.

For his part, Tucker hauled in seven passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns, finishing one shy of Courtney Pete's 2011 single game program record for receiving scores. Tucker's yardage accounted for 74.4 percent of Faulkner's passing game output.
Anderson finished the day 13 of 20 passing for 211 yards and three touchdown throws.

JaMichael Morgan paced the defense with 11 total tackles while Darrius Williams and Chris Thompson each had four tackles and an interception.
As a team, Faulkner tallied 31 first downs while amassing 478 yards of total offense. The Eagles' defense held Campbellsville to 278 yards in the effort.
