MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The match back at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium since August didn't go as planned Thursday night as Faulkner (7-3-1. 2-1 SSAC) suffered its first SSAC loss of the season in a 3-1 loss against new conference foe Life (3-5-2, 1-2-1 SSAC).
The Lady Eagles had entered winning five of their last six matches in shutout fashion, but the tough defense was broken in the 29th minute as Life took an early lead the visitors would take into the second half. After the break, Life took control of the match, outshooting the Lady Eagles 15-2 while adding goals in the 69th and 79th minutes.
Faulkner's lone shot on target in the second half counted and spoiled the road clean sheet bid with just 25 seconds to play as
Elodie Metho passed to
Annabel Cuthbert for the English forward's eighth goal of the season.
Keila Cardeiro turned in an incredible performance between the sticks in the loss, saving 13 shots in the match, including eight in the second half.
Faulkner travels to Dalton State Sunday for a 1:30 kickoff.
