MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner's season came to a heartbreaking close Friday in a loss to Mobile in the final pool play game with a 3-0 loss with a couple of narrow set losses 26-24, 25-20, 25-19 at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
Faulkner sprinted to an 8-2 lead to start the match with five kills, but the Rams whittled away at the advantage, eventually causing several ties and lead changes. Tied at 23,
Victoria Wheeler's kill gave Faulkner the first set point of the match, but Mobile rattled off three straight points to steal the set away.Â
In the second set, Faulkner led 10-8, but a 9-2 Ram run turned the tide. The Lady eagles twice cut the deficit to two, but couldn't get any closer in the set.Â
Mobile led 19-7 in the final set, but the Lady Eagles didn't go away quietly, finding 12 points to make things a little more interesting, but the margin was too much.Â
Haven Owings and
Hannah Bryan led the team with nine kills each.
Alyssa Stagner ended with 15 assists and
Mandi Hart 14.
Molly Presnell paced the defense with 14 digs and
Alexis McInroy 11.
Julia Rice blocked three attacks.Â
Faulkner concludes the season 23-14.
