MOBILE, Ala. - Down 3-0 38 minutes into the match, Faulkner mounted a dramatic comeback on the road against No. 4 Mobile to tie in the 88th minute but the Rams found an overtime winner to end the season for the Eagles 4-3.
Things looked bleak for the sixth seeded Eagles who drew the No. 4 team in the country as the No. 3 seed in the SSAC tournament and were trailing 3-0, but
Thiago Micki struck in the 42nd minute to bring things a little closer for the Eagles before the break and give the team a spark.
After three second half saves from
Nic Fischer in his first game back since an injury against Life,
Matteo Manzoni found
Gabriel Dias and Dias scored to make it 3-2 in the 80th, marking just the third time all season the Rams had been scored on twice in a match.
In the dying embers of the match,
Gabriel Rokbrand's corner kick found Dias who's header was parried by Mobile goalkeeper Ty Turner but fell right to the waiting feet of
Adrien Alexandre who returned to the lineup for the first time since September. The French midfielder made no mistake about it with the open net and tucked away the tying goal in the 88th minute.
Mobile found the match winner in the 100th minute, but with the new overtime rules in play, the Eagles tried to rally once more. In the 119th,
Antoine Marques's shot was saved and the Rams held on to spoil the upset bid.
Faulkner ends its season 5-9-2.
