Adams drops 34 as Faulkner dispatches Milligan

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner scored 50 points in the paint and snagged 17 offensive rebounds Friday night on the way to a 90-68 victory over Milligan. The Lady Eagles saw four players score in double figures but none more than Nequoia Adams who poured in a career high 34 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in a turnover-free effort.

The Lady Eagles took control of the game with an 8-0 run to end the first half, pushing the advantage to 44-29 as they headed for the locker room. Milligan worked to within 11 in the third quarter before a 10-0 run stretched the advantage to 60-39. As Milligan began whittling away at the lead again in the fourth quarter, Adams took over. The sophomore guard went on a personal 11-2 run to move the lead to 23 with 5:42 remaining. She capped her night with a quartet of free throws and left the game with 3:07 still on the clock. Adams dwarfed her previous career high of 20 points, turning in the third highest individual point output in program history.

As a team, Faulkner shot 47 percent from the floor and 35 percent from beyond the arc while also knocking down 77.8 percent of its free throws. The Lady Eagles also limited their turnovers to only nine while assisting on 15 of 35 made baskets.

Morgan Holland finished with 14 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Angela Grant turned in her 29th career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kinlee Varnell added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Faulkner (2-0) returns to action Saturday when it hosts Cumberland in the penultimate game of the Jimmy Faulkner Classic.
