MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner and Warner played a close one up until the Eagles launched a 14-0 run to power a 97-82 victory in the SSAC-Sun Challenge. The Eagles led 74-69 with 6:46 to play before
Trace Hill ignited the decisive stretch. He knocked down a shot ahead of a pair of
Isaiah Brooks free throws. Brooks followed with a bucket at the 5:36 mark and Hill made good on an old-fashioned three-point play to move the advantage to 14. A Brooks dunk and a
Derek Murphy three-pointer moved the lead all the way to 19.
In a game marred by 47 total foul calls that resulted in 47 free throw attempts, Faulkner shot 53.7 percent from the floor and 51.9 percent from three while hitting 25 of 27 attempts at the charity stripe.
Hill topped all scorers with 27 points to go along with six rebounds.
C.J. Hines added 26 points with nine rebounds and six assists. Murphy finished with 21 points while Brooks had 10.
Faulkner (12-2, 4-2 SSAC) returns to action Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Loyola.
