Late surge not enough at Point

WEST POINT, Ga. – Faulkner narrowed an 18-point fourth quarter gap all the way to five with 2:53 to play Friday before falling on the road 64-54 to Point University. The Lady Eagles trailed 56-38 until Kinlee Varnell made a free throw with 7:19 to go that launched a 13-0 run. Morgan Holland and Evaiah Burrows made back-to-back layups to slice the deficit to 56-43. Holland hit another layup at the 5:55 mark to cut it to 11. Nequoia Adams then went on a personal 6-0 run to get her team to within five at the 2:53 mark.

Point managed to pull away from that point, ending the game on an 8-3 run to finish off the win.

Faulkner shot 33.3 percent from the floor and just 11.8 percent from beyond the arc. Point won the rebound battle 36-29 and took points in the paint 34-28. Adams topped Faulkner with 19 points while Varnell added 10.
