MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner closed strong Thursday night with a 20-10 run that anchored an 82-64 victory over Middle Georgia State. The Eagles led 59-49 with 8:17 to play when
C.J. Hines drained a three to ignite the Faulkner run. Hines and
Trace Hill combined for 18 of the Eagles' 20 points during the closing stretch, moving the lead to 79-59 by the 2:25 mark, at which point Faulkner pulled its starters.
The Eagles shot 40.6 percent from the floor and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc while making 17 of 20 free throws. Faulkner won the rebound battle 36-35 and took the points off turnover margin 17-6.
Hines ended with 28 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Derek Murphy added 18 points while Hill had 17 and six rebounds.
Faulkner (14-3, 6-3 SSAC) returns to action Saturday when it travels to William Carey for a 2 p.m. tip.
