MONTGOMERY, AL— In the final game of the regular season, Faulkner (10-17, 5-10 SSAC) handled business against Brewton-Parker (5-18, 1-13 SSAC) 3-0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-21) Saturday afternoon in Tine-Davis Gymnasium.
After dominating in the first and second set. The third proved to be a challenge for the Lady Eagles as the Barons kept the set within a margin of two to three points. A kill from Kinsley Jordan sparked an 8-1 Brewton-Parker run putting them in front 16-14. Forcing a Faulkner timeout.
Following the timeout, The Barons struck quickly with a service ace from Hannah Duke and a kill from Amme Mobley to push the deficit up to four.
A couple of quick kills from
Victoria Wheeler and
Haven Owings brought the Lady Eagles within two, and a block from
Julia Rice and
Haven Owings closed the margin to within one. A
Charlee Jordan error brought the score back to two. But an
Ashton McCullar kill and an error by Naomi Taake tied the set at 19.
The Lady Eagles closed out the set and the match on a 5-2 run.
The match was senior day for four Lady Eagles as
Julia Rice,
Haven Owings,
Hannah Bryan, and
Macy Kemper were honored after the game, and for Rice and Owings the match represented their final home game in a Faulkner uniform.
Faulkner will be back in action at the SSAC Volleyball Championship Tournament on Thursday, November 9th at 11:30 a.m. vs Point and at 2:00 p.m. vs Mobile
