WEST POINT, Ga. - The Eagles kept the incredible start of the season rolling with another 4-1 victory Saturday, this time on the road against new SSAC foe Point, to improve to 8-0-1 with eight consecutive victories.
Antoine Marques started the scoring in the 4th minute as
Ilan Tabet channeled a pass down the right side where Higor França delivered a first touch cross to Marques to open the scoring with the first shot of the match.
Just 93 seconds into the second half, Faulkner added to the lead with a
Gabriel Rokbrand free kick that found
Leo Freire who doubled the advantage and scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. Rokbrand is one of three Eagles who lead the team with five assists.
In the 57th minute,
Gabriel Dias picked out Marques again for the third goal of the match. Marques has scored in every match except two and has at least either a goal or an assist in every win this season. He is tied for third in the country for goals this season and has tied the single-season goals record for Faulkner with 11.
Faulkner added its fourth goal in the 76th minute when Freire found
Matheus Rodrigues who scored his third goal of the season. Freire has been on a tear in the last two matches tallying two goals and three assists.
Noa Wiegand scratched a goal back for the hosts for what proved to be a consolation.
Faulkner has scored four or more goals in six matches and has not allowed more than one all season.
The Eagles face an intense stretch of matches with three straight top-25 foes starting with a road match against No. 18 Life Thursday evening.
