MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner battled the No. 3 team in the nation Thursday night but a brilliant strike from the reigning NAIA Offensive Player of the Week Emilio Cazares made the difference as Faulkner fell 1-0 to Mobile at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
The decisive moment happened in the 18th minute as the Mexican forward scored his 16th goal of the season with a sensational dribble and perfect strike for the lone tally of the night.Â
Faulkner had a good number of chances, none better than a one-on-one chance that
Leo Freire shot from outside the box and the outcharging Ty Turner in the 70th minute stopped with his chest outside the box.Â
The Eagles put four shots on goal but could not find an equalizer, but had chances by holding the eighth-highest goal scoring team in the nation to the lone score.Â
Faulkner travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take on No. 12 William Carey Saturday at 4 p.m. to continue SSAC play.Â
