MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner's season came to an end Wednesday afternoon after falling 74-58 to Thomas in the first round of the SSAC Men's Basketball Championship, presented by Newk's Eatery, at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
The No. 9 seed fell behind to the Night Hawks early but the No. 8 seed pulled away initially with back-to-back threes to turned a one possession game to nearly double digits in just under a minute around the 12 minute mark in the first. A
J.C. Norris three with 5:50 to play in the first half cut the deficit to five but the Eagles got no closer as the Night Hawks turned out a 11-2 run to pull away for good.
Victor Muñoz's 14/14 double-double highlighted a tough performance offensively for the Eagles who shot just 35.7 percent from the floor and 26.1 percent from deep in their first game in 11 days.
Sean McCurdy led the team with 15 points.
Jayden Cooper added 11.
The Eagles conclude the season 14-15 overall and 9-11 in league play.
