MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After a 12 day layoff, the Eagles looked sharp as ever in a 5-0 win to open SSAC play against Brewton-Parker Thursday night with five different goalscorers.
Faulkner (3-2-1, 1-0 SSAC) wasted no time getting ahead of Brewton-Parker as
Leo Freire dribbled between four defenders and passed to
Tiago Miki who hammered home the opener for his first goal as an Eagle in his first start.
In the 27th minute, Freire was pulled down in prime position for a free kick to the left side of the goal.
Konsti Witte stepped up and lasered the shot over the wall and blistered the net, freezing the keeper for his second goal of the season.
José Lucca got on the scoresheet with a thunderous shot of his own in the 35th minute, cutting in from the right before rocketing a right-footed shot into the net for his second goal of the year.
In the 67th minute, Caio de Luna Gomes crossed into
Leo Freire on the back post who headed the ball across the frame where
Caden Maldonado clattered it in for his first goal of the season.
Faulkner iced the game away in the 87th when
Naoya Iwamoto crossed to Pepé Riofrio who hammered home his first goal as an Eagle.
Faulkner outshot Brewton-Parker 17-10 and 9-4 on target.
The Eagles get ready to take on Middle Georgia Saturday night as SSAC play continues.
