Montgomery, Ala. - The Lady Eagles took on the Life Running Eagles on Saturday afternoon for back-to-back SSAC action. The Lady Eagles fell in four sets to Life despite a hard fight the entire match. The final score sat at 3-1 for the Running Eagles.
Life 3, Faulkner 1 (25-19, 25-9, 15-25, 25-15)
In the first set, the Lady Eagles battled back and forth with the Running Eagles over several serves. The lead changed multiple times early in the set.
Life went on a late 5-0 run to go up 18-14. The Lady Eagles crawled back within two behind a Riley Deem kill and an attack error from Life.
Life took another 4-0 run to push their lead out again. Faulkner answered back with two late points, but Life clinched the first set after a kill from Chloe Teter. The final score was 25-19 in favor of Life.
In the second set, the Lady Eagles dropped to 2-0 after the Running Eagles took set two 25-9.
In the third set, the Lady Eagles took the set 25-15 behind some big-time play from the Lady Eagles' attackers to push the match to four sets. Several big-time kills from Rhiannon Keck, Hannah Bryan, Victoria Wheeler and Riley Deem pushed the Lady Eagles past the Running Eagles in the third set.
The fourth set, Life took the match after winning 25-15 for the final score 3-1. The Lady Eagles fought hard, but the power of the Running Eagles outmatched Faulkner late in the set.
Leading the way for Faulkner was Hannah Bryan with 10 kills and eight digs. Victoria Wheeler had eight kills and Kolbi Bates had eight digs as well.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Pensacola Christian College. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
