MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner battled uphill the whole way Saturday in a gritty performance but fell 4-1 to No. 25 Tennessee Southern in SSAC action at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
The moment of the match came in the 13th minute when Faulkner was issued a red card and a penalty award to the Firehawks putting the visitors up a goal and with a player advantage for rest of the match.Â
Faulkner conceded in the 31st but drew one back in the 43rd minute when
Yury Santaclara curled a free kick on the near post for her second goal in as many matches.Â
Eventually, the numbers advantage got too much against the side that has been ranked in every poll since 2011 with two more goals from Kamilia Tayebi to complete her hat trick in the 65th and 74th minutes.Â
Faulkner looks to rebound on the road against Brewton-Parker Thursday night at 4 p.m. central.
