TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Faulkner's defense clamped down in the second half as the Eagles completed the season sweep of in-state foe Stillman with a 78-70 win Wednesday afternoon in Birthright Alumni Hall.
The Eagles picked up its 11th straight win over the Tigers after trailing by 42-40 at halftime. Stillman took the lead after 14-20 shooting from inside the arc in the first half despite the Eagles dropping seven threes on 50 percent shooting to put the Eagles behind by 11 with 7:29 to go in the first.Â
With about 11 minutes to go in the game,
Jordyn Turner-Durley pulled down a rebound and found K.J. Rogers for a fast break layup to take the lead 56-55. After a missed Stillman triple, Turner-Durley connected on one of his three from range to make it a four point game.
Levi White converted a layup on the next possession ahead of an and-one from Rogers with 8:28 to go to complete a 10-0 run over about 90 seconds and go up 64-55 for a lead that proved sufficient to the win.
Five Eagles scored 76 of the 78 points with Rogers leading with 22, Turner-Durley had 17,
Gabriel Rivera 14, White 12 and
Gideon Harris 11. Harris led the rebounding with seven. Turner-Durley added three steals and
Francois-Dony Baba joined two.Â
The Eagles are on a three game win streak after a three game skid and will welcome Montreat to Tine Davis Gymnasium Friday for a 2 p.m. tipoff.Â
