MARIETTA, Ga. - Faulkner went toe-to-toe with No. 11 Keiser Sunday but fell 2-0 Sunday afternoon in a neutral site contest.
Keiser took the lead on an Ian Garnero tally from Keanu Does and Santiago Duque in the 13th minute before Garnero made it a brace in the 24th from Gabi Villafane and Francis Bolland.
The Eagles put just three shots on target in a very physical contest that saw seven cards assessed across 31 fouls.
The Eagles wrapped up the first leg of nonconference play with only a regular season ending match against Cumberland (Tenn.) left outside the SSAC with a 4-1 record, going 3-1 against the Sun Conference semifinalists from last season.
Faulkner opens SSAC play against (RV) Dalton State Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. central. in the third of six straight matches against teams receiving votes or better in the coaches' poll.
