Faulkner University

Phillip Hurst is entering his fourth year at Faulkner University. Prior to coming to Faulknerm Hurst was the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at Wallace Community College in Dothan, Ala. During his time there, the Govs went 166-72 while breaking the school wins record twice. In 2017, Hurst helped guide the Govs to their first NJCAA World Series appearance in the history of the program after winning the Alabama Community College championship.

The pitching staff broke numerous records as well when during Hurst’s tenure including single season ERA (2.96) and strikeouts (472). Hurst led pitching staffs that combined for a 3.50 ERA while he serving as the pitching coach for Wallace.

Hurst also sent 41 players to four-year schools from Wallace with 24 of those going to NCAA Division I baseball programs. Four other players went on to be selections in the MLB Draft. Among the more than three dozen players Hurst helped to advance their playing careers, he sent Faulkner University John Price, Tra’mayne Holmes (11th round MLB draft pick) and T.J. Riles.
