Marcus White, a former player at Auburn and Murray State, has joined the Faulkner staff as the defensive line coach. Having originally signed with Auburn, White transfered prior to the 2003 season to Murray State, where he was an All-Ohio Valley Conference selection for three years.
White was a member of the NFL's Tennessee Titans from 2005 to 2007 before concluding his professional career in the Arena Football League. In 2010 he began coaching, serving as a defensive graduate assistant for the University of Houston. After a season with the Cougars, he moved on to Tarleton State for a season before returning to Houston for the 2013 season. He spent last season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas Tech.
A Murray State graduate, White will play a large role with the Eagles, including breaking down film, helping formulate game plans and recruiting.
“I’m excited to be a part of a program that has the mentality of a Division I program and at the same time providing a humble Christ-minded environment," White said. "I’m looking forward to working in a program that understands what it takes to be successful and still maintain its Christian identity. Faulkner University cares about its student-athletes in ways you don’t see at bigger programs, and that has always been part of my coaching philosophy. My family and I are overjoyed with the opportunity.”
White and his wife, Jaunelle, have three daughters - MaKiah, age 8, Jailyn, age 4, and Layla, age 2.
