Ainsley Lockwood, a name practically synonymous with Faulkner Women's Soccer from 2020-24, enters her second season as assistant coach after a decorated playing career with the Lady Eagles.
"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to pour into these young women the same way others poured into me," Lockwood said. "Being part of this program as a player helped shape not only my soccer career but also my faith and character. Now, as a coach, I feel God has given me an opportunity to serve and encourage this next generation, on and off the field. It's a blessing to walk alongside them, help them grow, and be part of something bigger than wins and losses."
Lockwood, a Montgomery native, appeared in 72 contests for Faulkner with 62 starts along the front line, back line and midfield. She scored 16 goals and assisted 11 more while playing over 4500 minutes. She ranks 12th in program history for goals and eighth in assists. Lockwood helped the Lady Eagles get to two SSAC semifinals in her playing time, the first two since 2012.Â
"Playing in multiple positions taught me how to see the game from different perspectives, and going through the highs and lows of being a student-athlete at Faulkner gave me a deeper understanding of the physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges these girls face. I hope to use those experiences to connect with them, guide them, and remind them that their identity is found in Christ above all else. Soccer is a gift, but who we become in the process matters most."
In her playing career, Lockwood earned four SSAC All-Academic Team honors from 2021-24, placed on the SSAC Barnes & Noble Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team in 2022 and 2023, was named Faulkner's Champions of Character Team representative in 2023 and earned SSAC All-Freshman Team honors in 2020.
Lockwood is a two-time Faulkner graduate, earning her Bachelor's in Accounting in spring 2024 and her Executive Masters of Business Administration in spring 2025.
