Matthew Tarpley

Coach Tarpley has been a member of the Faulkner University Soccer coaching staff for the past 7 years. He has served as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Faulkner University and is also currently the Recruiting Coordinator. Coach Tarpley coordinates the Faulkner University Soccer Camp Program planning and running 4 camps a year. He believes that the coach/player relationship extends beyond the pitch and strives to be a mentor to our athletes on and off the field. Coach Tarpley also handles the Operations and Logistics for the Men’s Soccer program. 

Coach Tarpley is a native of Atlanta, Ga. and has lived in Auburn, Ala. for the past 10 years. He has been married to his wife, Stacey, for 21 years and they have 3 beautiful children at home; Allie-18, Becca-16, and Miller-15.

Coach Tarpley has worked with several clubs since moving to Alabama 10 years ago. He took the Opelika Crush U15 boys to the State Cup finals and led the FC Montgomery U18 girls to the Alabama Summer Shootout tournament title. He most recently led the Auburn Thunder 02 Boys to the title at the Liberty Cup Classic and the Auburn Thunder Classic in the Fall of 2020. Coach Tarpley is also very active in high school soccer and has served as a coach for the AHSAA North/South All Star Game. 

Coach Tarpley believes in the mission of Faulkner University. He believes that Jesus, academics, and soccer are the three most important things for a Faulkner University soccer player to focus on. He runs several camps and outreach programs for young people in both the Montgomery and Auburn area. Coach Tarpley is active in his church and volunteers as a small group mentor for the Youth group.
