Faulkner rips Selma 14-6

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Top-ranked Faulkner (34-3) utilized an explosive fifth inning to anchor a 14-6 blasting of Selma University here at Harrison Field this evening.

The two teams traded three runs in the first inning before Ryan Rosa severed the stalemate with a solo home run in the third giving the Eagles what would be a permanent lead.

L.D. Coney offered up more of the same in the fourth, while the real scoring separation took place in the fifth inning.

Reid Long struck on an RBI triple and scored immediately on Luis Duran's sacrifice fly to right field.

Brady Hamilton then ushered in the eighth run of the outing with a double off the wall in right-center. He later scored on an infield error.

A pair of bases-loaded walks and a Jamal Howard sac fly closed out the seven-run window.

Wes Roberson delivered Faulkner's final homer of the evening in two-run fashion in the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs mustered up three runs over late at-bats, but the existing damage was proved insurmountable.

Rosa was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and runs while Chance Willard went 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Donte' Glover got the start and gave up three earned runs on a lone hit in the first inning.

The win was awarded to Brandon Suttles (5-0) who tallied two strikeouts while allowing a hit in the ensuing 1 1/3 innings.

Faulkner will next travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for a three-game Southern States Athletic Conference series against No. 9 William Carey. First pitch in Game 1 is set for 6 p.m. Friday.
