Samir Rojas coupled athletic success and academic achievement and was honored as an SSAC Scholar-Athlete.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed in 50% of competitions
On the field, Rojas carried a 3.72 ERA over 58 innings with 49 punchouts. The pitcher from Barquismeto, Venezuela produced a 1.33 WHIP and a .243 batting average against.
In the classroom, Rojas has a 3.38 GPA majoring in Sports Management in his second language as a native Spanish speaker.
Rojas is the seventh different Eagle to earn the award since the teams started in 2021.
