Box Score Two free kicks converted by Laney Eden led the Lady Eagles (1-4-1) past Talladega (0-6) Friday night on the road in Oxford, Ala. for Pritchard Ndaira's first win in his collegiate coaching career 4-2.
Eden scored her first goal of the season just outside the box in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Victoria Moran opened the second half scoring to double the Faulkner advantage with her first collegiate goal.
The Tornadoes struck back to shrink the lead, but Moran connected with Wilson Stephen who notched her first goal of her career.
Eden put the Lady Eagles three goals up late in the second half with a 30-yard free kick.
Talladega found their second goal to make it a 4-2 contest, but the improbable rally was thwarted by the Faulkner defense.
The Lady Eagles outshot the Tornadoes 14 to nine, while allowing only three shots on frame from the hosts. Faulkner scattered seven shots on target.
Rakeema Najiy (1-4-1) picked up the win with one save.
The Lady Eagles open conference play next Thursday night, Sept. 25 against 3rd-ranked William Carey at 5:30 at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium. Faulkner has only defeated the Crusaders once in 11 meetings.
