Box Score Faulkner's defense held true once more in Thursday afternoon's 1-0 victory in Mt. Vernon, Ga. against the Barons. The Lady Eagles improved to 8-3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play and have kept their opponents off the scoreboard nine times.
Angelica Justice (JR/Alabaster, Ala.)'s return to the lineup positioned next to Taylor Strength (JR/Ozark, Ala.) as the centerback tandem bolstered a shuffled defense in front of Megan White (FR/San Angelo, Texas). Haley Bartell (SO/Pace, Fla.) and Wilson Stephen (SO/Montgomery, Ala.) halted attacks down the flanks throughout the match. The back four held shape and were assisted by an entire team effort defensively, taking three points on the road. White's five saves handed the netminder her eighth career clean sheet, tying Cate Eden's mark.
Despite the travel delays hindered the start of the match by nearly an hour, the meeting intensified quickly with a diving save made by White in the 13th minute. Faith Pelletier-King (SO/Laval, Quebec, Canada) bagged her 13th goal of the season in just seven appearances for the eventual game winner in the 19th minute from Klara Ebert (FR/Mannheim City, Germany)'s delivery.
Faulkner continue's its road trip to Middle Georgia State to face the Knights on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. central.
