Box Score Faulkner found itself under fire in the early going Saturday morning before settling in on the defensive end and working its way to a 75-65 victory over Florida Memorial.
In the second game of day two of the Jimmy Faulkner Classic, the visiting Lions knocked down eight of their first 10 shots from the floor and stormed out to an early lead. The Eagles turned to the hot shooting hand of Nate Bradley (SR/Concord, N.Y.), who kept his team in it by dropping 10 of his career high 20 points before the whistles got warmed up.
Bradley connected on a step-back three and mixed his jumper with his drives throughout the afternoon while also allowing his passing ability to tee up four assists in a complete offensive effort.
The Eagles trailed by as many as seven in the first half, their largest deficit coming with 9:03 remaining until the break. Faulkner quickly began chipping away, erasing the gap and surging to a 46-43 halftime advantage.
Faulkner built on that lead in the second half, using its depth and defense to put Florida Memorial squarely in the rearview. The Eagles turned 16 Lion turnovers into 13 points. Faulkner also won the bench scoring battle by 10 points, matching the margin of difference in the game's final score.
Milan Skundric (SR/Negotin, Serbia) put together his best game of the young season, putting up 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jacob Spence (SR/Fernandina Beach, Fla.), who was called upon to bang against 7-0 center Mubashar Ali for most of the contest, finished with 11 points, setting a new career high.
Jordan Martin paced Florida Memorial with 18 points while three other players finished in double figures for the Lions.
Faulkner (3-0) returns to action Tuesday when it hosts crosstown rival and NCAA Division III foe Huntingdon at 7 p.m.
