Lady Eagles end season at .500

Box Score

Two penalty saves by Megan White (FR/San Angelo, Texas) in the second half limited the damage, but three first half goals from conference rival Middle Georgia sunk the Lady Eagles 3-0 in what turned out to be the season finale Tuesday afternoon in Cochran, Ga. concluding the season at 8-8-1 overall and 2-6 in SSAC play. This season marks the first time since 2011 that the program has finished .500 or better.

Faulkner entered the match needing a result and a little help from Brewton-Parker, being tied with Dalton State on points and the Roadrunners traveling to Mt. Vernon, to make the tournament field. However, a trio of Knight goals by Miagh Downey negated the Barons 1-0 win for the Lady Eagles

White stopped a penalty shot by Ellie Russell in the 58th and another from Sarah Coursey in the 80th, but the offense could not cash in on the momentum gained by the stops, mustering just three shots on target during the match.

Downey first scored in the eighth minute off a pass from Maria Garcia. Her second and third goals counted four minutes apart late in the first half.

The Lady Eagles miss the SSAC tournament on the head-to-head tiebreak loss to Dalton State following Oct. 5's 3-2 home loss.
