Box Score Faulkner scored early and often as six Lady Eagles found the back of the net in a dominant 10-0 victory over Talladega Tuesday night at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium. Carolin Gaeher (FR/Muenster, Germany) and Faith Pelletier-King (SO/Laval, Quebec, Canada) notched the 26th and 27th hat tricks in program history.
Pelletier-King's long awaited Lady Eagle debut will stand out among some of the top single-game performances in Lady Eagle history as she also tallied three assists, becoming just the fourth Lady Eagle to reach three helpers in one match and the only athlete in program history to record three or more assists and multiple goals despite coming off the bench. This premiere was unexpected, however. During pregame, Pelletier-King was assisting her teammates loosen up when word came to her that she officially cleared the national office and was eligible and instantly transitioned into getting ready to play. Just four minutes after entering the pitch, the Canadian forward had recorded a goal and an assist.
Camila Parada (SO/Neuquen, Argentina) opened the scoring against her former side six minutes into the game and doubled the scoreline two minutes later. Victoria Moran (SO/Buenos Aires, Argentina) assisted in each Parada effort . Moran ended the night tying a program record for assists in a match with four.
Gaeher and Pelletier-King took over late in the first half as two goals from the German forward and one from the Grambling State transfer expanded the lead to 5-0 in less than five minutes, assisting the other in each strike.
Pelletier-King quickly opened the second half with a goal in the 48th minute before completing her hat trick in the 55th; Nanako Omae (JR/Kyoto, Japan) earned assists on both. Those efforts bookended Gaeher's third goal in the 50th minute.
Emily Temple (FR/Tallassee, Ala.) and Kaitlyn Ambrose (FR/Birmingham, Ala.) each scored their first collegiate goals in the 77th and 84th minutes, respectively; both goals were set up by passes from Dominique Rivera (FR/Brownsville, Texas).
Talladega was unable to get a shot against the stingy Faulkner defense which turned in its fourth shut out performance. Megan White (FR/San Angelo, Texas) and Aliyah Gomez (FR/Haines City, Fla.) enjoyed an easy night in net with a combined zero saves in the contest.
The Lady Eagles will travel to Choccolocco Park Tuesday Sept. 17 to face the Tornadoes.
