Quick Crusader goals flip Faulkner lead from Omae free kick

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Nanako Omae scored the opening goal of the Lady Eagles (0-3) season in the 11th minute Saturday evening to give Faulkner the lead against conference foe William Carey, marking the the first time since Nov. 3, 2012 (3-2 win) that the Montgomery ladies have led the Crusaders (1-0.) However the perennial powerhouse countered with three goals in 12 minutes en route to a 4-1 to defend its home turf in a nonconference matchup.

The Japanese midfielder struck a free kick about 20 yards from goal over the head of last season's SSAC Golden Gloves winner Sabrina Lang. Seven minutes later, Marina Sonet and Camila Pescatore (penalty kick) flipped a Faulkner lead into a deficit in just under 120 seconds.

Megan White made seven saves while allowing three goals from the run of play. She stopped 33% of penalty shots faced this week.

The three teams the Lady Eagles have faced thus far are a combined 9-0 and have outscored all opponents 41-3.

The Lady Eagles will face William Carey again in an SSAC matchup Feb. 20 at home. Faulkner travels to Marietta, Ga. to face Life Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
