MOBILE, Ala. - A rough night shooting for the Lady Eagles handed Faulkner a 83-74 road loss to SSAC foe Mobile (4-1) in a nonconference tilt. Faulkner (2-5) shot 35.7 percent from the floor and a season-low 11.1 percent from behind the arc. The hosts shot 54.1 percent from the floor and 61.5 percent from deep.
A three pointer made by
Ashlyn Adkins with 20 seconds to play in the first quarter cut the deficit to three but the Rams mirrored the effort as Claire Worth knocked down a three with five seconds left marked the beginning of a 10-0 Mobile run over the next 89 seconds of game play.
Down 16 a minute into the second half,
Ryann Sylvester and  Adkins combined for the next 17 points for the Lady Eagles to bring the guests within two possessions. A pair of
Evaiah Burrows makes from the charity stripe closed out the quarter with a two point deficit after holding the home team scoreless over the last 2:31.Â
Leading by two with 6:32 to play, Mobile cashed in on three offensive rebounds on its next possession with a field goal, sparking a 5-0 run to keep Faulkner two or more possessions behind for the rest of the contest.Â
Adkins lead the team with 22 points while Sylvester and
Olivia Colson also finished in double figures. Colson paced the rebounding effort with seven.Â
The Lady Eagles grabbed six more offensive rebounds and nine total steals to put up more nine more shots than the Rams.Â
Faulkner travels to Blue Mountain, Miss. Tuesday to face the Lady Toppers at 5 p.m.Â
