COCHRAN, Ga. - Faulkner (4-9-1, 2-3 SSAC) limited Middle Georgia (10-4, 4-1 SSAC) to just four shots on target, continuing the defensive trend set over the two wins last time out, but fell 1-0 Thursday evening to the receiving votes side in an SSAC contest at Nesmith Field.
As the Lady Eagles were knocking on the door with their best run of attacks, Middle Georgia found the lone tally of the contest as Tatjana Steinau scored from a pass by Anna Hieronymous in the 67th minute. Just moments before,
Faith Pelletier-King's shot skipped just wide of the post in the 65th. She led the team with two of the team's four shots.Â
Reagan Embry stopped three shots in the loss, two before the decisive goal.
Alessia Confalonieri played 14 minutes in her return to the pitch and
Annabel Cuthbert played her most minutes (49) after returning from injury herself.
Paige Coghill returned to action as well and played 58 minutes. Six Lady Eagles played all 90 minutes as 18 players saw the field.
The Lady Eagles currently sit in a tie for fourth with Dalton State and Mobile at six points. The Roadrunners have played one less match--having the Talladega match postponed--and Mobile defeated Faulkner earlier this season.Â
Faulkner faces Brewton-Parker (8-8, 4-1 SSAC) Saturday at 12:30 p.m central. The Barons defeated Dalton State 2-1 after falling behind 1-0 Thursday night.Â
