Renda earns win 300 in sweep over Middle Georgia

MACON, Ga. - Tori Renda picked up her 300th career win as head coach in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) sweep over Middle Georgia Saturday in the final road match of the SSAC season. Renda has coached over 60 percent of the program's wins and ranks 25th nationally in active coaching wins, with all 300 wins being with the Lady Eagles.

The first set stood at 20-19, but a 4-0 run with a Hannah Bryan kill and an Alyssa Stager ace lifted Faulkner to the match lead. The second set started with Stagner behind the service line again and a 6-0 run and the team hit three aces, including two more from the setter, in the stanza.

In the third set, the Knights charged to try to force a third, but five kills and an ace for Faulkner in a seven point span turned a 16-all tie to a comfortable lead that would be seen out for the second consecutive sweep. Just once have the Lady Eagles won with consecutive sweeps this season before this weekend and both were on the same day with wins over Fisk and Truett McConnell Sept. 4.

Alysa Vinson led the team with 11 kills while Hannah Bryan and Alexis McInroy each had nine. Every Lady Eagle who played front-row rotations recorded at least three kills. Julia Rice turned in the Wendy's stat line with four kills and four blocks. Stagner filled the stat sheet with six kills, three aces, a block, 20 digs and a match-high 33 assists marking her fourth straight double-double. Jordan Stewart paced the floor with 23 digs, just one shy of her career high and her sixth consecutive match with double figure digs.

Faulkner wraps up its regular season against Mobile in what could possibly be a preview of a pool play match in the conference tournament. The Lady Eagles will be the five seed and Mobile will either be the four and compete against Faulkner or the two or three seed and be in the opposite pool. The senior day match is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday night.
