MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner dominated every facet of the match in a 3-0 win over Talladega Thursday night in the first SSAC meeting between the two programs, snapping a four-match skid. The Lady Eagles pummeled the Talladega net to the tune of 26 shots on target with 48 total shots while defensively not allowing the Tornadoes to take a shot.
After 29 shots from the Lady Eagles failed to find the back of the net, it was the 30th shot taken by
Kendall Blackmon that rebounded off the keeper and fell right to the feet of
Faith Pelletier-King. The Canadian forward tucked it away to open the goal scoring in the 66th minute on the 16th shot on target. She doubled her scoring in the 81st, heading in a cross from
Luci Schroder who received a short corner from
Klara Ebert. 115 seconds later,
Ainsley Lockwood tucked in the third goal of the night and her season after Pelletier-King passed back to her teammate on the back post after receiving the cross from
Adamarie Moreno.
As a defense, Faulkner rarely allowed possession on their defensive half and quickly won back possession in the attacking half, allowing
Reagan Embry to pick up the easiest clean sheet possible with zero saves. In the last 270 minutes of play against the Tornadoes, Faulkner has allowed just one shot.
The scrappy Talladega defense, despite allowing 48 shots, made a lot of the shots on target easy pickings for goalkeeper Zoe Dixon. In her first start in goal, Dixon impressed with 18 saves, the most in the SSAC for a single game.
The Lady Eagles picked up their first win on campus since a 2-0 win over Florida College nearly two years ago to the date on Oct. 10.
Faulkner looks to make it two in a row for the second time this season against Blue Mountain on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 10:30 with Senior Day starting prior to the match.
